4/ THE EASTERN TENT CATERPILLAR/CYANIDE HYPOTHESIS:

Based on preliminary field investigations of MRLS in May 2001, the close time and place associations between MRLS and the Black Cherry Tree/Eastern Tent Caterpillar system led to the Eastern Tent Caterpillar/Cyanide hypothesis of MRLS.

5/ LABORATORY MODELS OF MRLS:

The 2002 identification of the central role of ETC in MRLS led to attempts to produce a laboratory animal (mouse) model of MRLS

6/ THE PROPOSED SETAL PATHOGENESIS OF MRLS:

In July 2002, consideration of the results of the Spring 02 ETC/MRLS experiments and the unusual ocular and cardiac syndromes that are an apparently integral part of MRLS led to the proposed Septic Penetrating Setal Pathogenesis model of MRLS.
